Törggelen – the roots of a South Tyrolean tradition
The roots lie in the viticulture, when winemakers and their workers gathered around a large table in the room where the “Törggele” – the wine press – stood. There, together with the new wine all sorts of South Tyrolean autumn delights were put on the table: roasted chestnuts, fresh fruit and vegetables and hearty meat dishes. And also dumplings, fritters, “Schlutzer”, farm bread and smoked sausages were offered. This tradition is still cherished today, and if you plan your family farm holiday in autumn, you can already look forward to a vacation full of culinary and healthy delights!
